Plumpton's wildlife habitats
In 2004 a group of Plumpton residents (and friends) got together to carry out a detailed habitat survey in the parish. Different aspects of Plumpton's wildlife habitats have been variously surveyed and recorded over the years, but this was the first time all the information had been brought together into one report.
The final survey covers the history, geology, land management and areas with special conservation designations in the parish, an overview of what we found, listed by habitat, and seven maps covering the parish, with survey notes.
The survey has been published, with funding from the South Downs National Park Authority. Copies of the book are available by emailing us. You can also download a copy here.
More recently, members of the Wildlife Group have contributed information about our local habitats to the Landscape and Biodiversity State of the Parish Report, as part of the evidence base for the Plumpton Parish Neighbourhood Plan 2017-2030.
